Reclaiming What Truly Matters – A journey back to yourself.

by | Dec 1, 2025

December often arrives with its own set of expectations. There is a quiet pressure to hold everything together, to meet everyone’s needs, to finish the year strong, to be grateful, to be cheerful, to be everything to everyone. For midlife women navigating multiple layers of change, this month can feel particularly heavy. It is rarely one thing that weighs on you. It is the confluence of many things, each one tugging at your attention, your energy, and your sense of self.
This blog brings together the themes from my Advent series on LinkedIn, created to help women reclaim what truly matters. It is a four-week journey through honesty, courage, release, and renewal. It is an invitation to pause, to notice, to soften and to return to yourself.

Laying the Foundations
The first week invites you to slow down and look gently at the stories, responsibilities, and emotional loads you carry. These early reflections are not about fixing anything. They are about noticing.
Many midlife women I coach share that they are tired of the weight of “should,” tired of feeling responsible for everyone else’s wellbeing, tired of carrying loads that were never theirs to carry. Many realise that the barriers in their way are not always external. They are often internal voices shaped by decades of conditioning.
During this first week, I invite you to explore:
how you want to feel.

what is getting in your way.
what you truly want.
whose load you are carrying.
what is genuinely your responsibility.
what you have been tolerating.

These questions are not easy. They ask for honesty, courage, and self-compassion. Yet they create the foundations for everything that follows. When you begin to see clearly, you begin to reclaim your power.

Releasing What No Longer Serves
The second week invites you to release what is holding you back. It is a week of courage, of letting go, of rewriting old stories and of giving yourself permission to choose differently.
Take some time to reflect on:

the permissions you have been waiting for.
the old stories that need rewriting.
the beliefs and identities that no longer fit.
the fears that sit in the driver’s seat.
the guilt you carry around self-care.
the boundaries you need to honour.

This week is about creating space. It is about loosening the grip of outdated expectations and stepping away from patterns that have quietly drained your energy for years. It is about recognising that letting go is not giving up. It is choosing yourself alongside others and making room for what truly matters.
By the end of this week, you may notice a shift. You may feel lighter, clearer, and more grounded, and begin to sense the possibility of a different way of being.

Beginning Again
The third week turns towards beginnings. Not grand, sweeping beginnings, but small, intentional ones. The kind that honour who you are becoming rather than who you have been.
I invite you to explore:

the support you need.
who truly sees you.
the small steps that create momentum.
the conversations you have been avoiding.
what makes you feel fully alive.

This week is about reconnecting with your vitality, your voice, and your agency. It is about remembering what lights you up, what nourishes you and what brings you home to yourself. It is about recognising that new beginnings do not require certainty. They require only one small step, taken with honesty and intention.
Many women share that this week helps them feel more like themselves again, more visible, and more connected to their own needs and desires.

Integrating and Looking Ahead
The final week invites you to integrate everything you have discovered. This is a week of reflection, gratitude, and gentle forward movement.

It is an invitation to reflect on:
what enough looks like.
what has shifted over the month.
what your future self would thank you for.
what you have reclaimed.

This week is about recognising sufficiency, honouring limits, and acknowledging the wisdom that has emerged. It is about planting seeds for the year ahead, not through pressure or perfection, but through clarity, calm, and confidence. It is about realising that reclaiming what matters is not a single act. It is a practice. A way of living.

Closing
Reclaiming what truly matters is not about striving. Many women long for rest, clarity, calm, courage, and connection. These longings echo the themes of the festive season itself: hope, peace, joy, love, and renewal.
As the days unfold, your longings may begin to shift. What once felt distant may begin to feel possible. What once felt out of reach may begin to feel reclaimable.
You may find yourself reclaiming:

confidence in your voice.
trust in your intuition.
clarity about what truly matters.
boundaries that protect your energy.
joy in the simple acts.
peace in your heart.
a sense of being fully yourself.

Whatever you reclaim, honour it. Let it settle into your mind, body, and spirit. Let it become part of the foundation that carries you into the months ahead.
A few questions to sit with:
🌱 What have you reclaimed through this journey
🌱 What does it feel like to celebrate this reclamation
🌱 What becomes possible when you honour what you have rediscovered.

Reclaiming what truly matters is not a destination. It is a return to yourself, to your values, to your voice and to the quiet truth of who you are becoming.
This is you, reclaiming what truly matters.al.
